Qualifications

Hand Surgery is a subspecialty of Orthopaedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery. It requires significantly more training than general orthopaedics, both theoretical and practical.

Standard requirements to work as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon include a University degree, full registration with the GMC, a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and acceptance on to the Specialist Register.

All of these requirements have been fulfilled over the last 16 years. However over the last 6 years, Mark has accrued advanced skills in Hand Surgery: Micro-vascular Training; Research; Conferences and specific fellowship training in Hand Surgery, from two of the top centres in the UK, Oxford and Wrightington.

In November 2010, Mark was awarded the BSSH Diploma in Hand Surgery by the University of Manchester.
